The cruise to Ha Long Bay covers the entire day. With the pick up from the hotel to the pier and back the cruise company was extremely efficient. Once on board, they provided meals, arranged the entertainment and even organized a cooking session with popular Vietnamese cuisine.

The cruise also stopped at a limestone cave which was extremely beautiful. It was deep and dark at times. Its a different experience, you might similar caves in many part of East Asia.
